Art: Expressive Painting
Before starting their artwork, the children explored and compared the work of Marela Zacarius and Charlie French, discussing with they liked and disliked.
They explored the colour wheel and created 3 primary colour backgrounds, and 3 secondary colour backgrounds. They loved mixing different colours together and making predictions about what they would create! These will make the foundations for our layering artwork later on.
They created their own tools, using anything but a paintbrush just like Charlie French! They considered the purpose of their tools, would it swipe, poke, dab, scrape, scratch or brush the paint onto the paper?
They cut out strips from their artwork to create 3D art. These turned out amazing!
DT: Sewing
This unit has involved-
1) exploring and labelling the equipment needed to sew: a needle threader, thread, felt and a needle.
2) learning how to thread a needle using a needle threader.
3) making a running stitch between 2 pieces of felt to create a pouch
We are very excited to be making something to sell at the christmas fayre in a couple of weeks!
