The Commission Model - Erasmus Plus Project

The Commission Model at Woodrow

We are very fortunate to have worked with partners from Germany, Portugal, Turkey and Poland as well as the UK to learn about one of Dorothy Heathcote’s way of learning and teaching. The Commission Model involves the children working for a real life client on something which they need the children’s input on. Similarly to Mantle of the Expert, it also incorporates drama and enquiry and aims to challenge the children to think about what matters to people and why.

Woodrow First School: The "History at Home" Commission

Children at Woodrow First School were commissioned by the Black Country Living Museums to review their online "History at Home" resources. This video documents the process of working on the commission. Part of our Erasmus Plus project on Dorothy Heathcote's Commission Model of Teaching.

Woodrow First School: "Festival of Food" Commission

Children at Woodrow First School were commissioned by a local healthy food cafe, to help to raise the cafe's profile. This video documents the process of working on the commission, which culminated in the creation of a "Woodrow Cheesecake Bagel." Part of our Erasmus Plus project on Dorothy Heathcote's Commission Model of Teaching.
