Autumn Term 2025-2026

Nursery have started their Mantle story in class over the last 2 weeks. Mantle is an approach to teaching where the children become a team, work for a client have tasks to complete.

The children completed the sensory story linked to the bear hunt. They arrived outside the cave and then decided to go through the cave. They discovered a man who was hurt and he required a team of doctors. Our carpet time was about doctors and the equipment they used. The children enjoyed exploring and becoming the doctors in class. They used the equipment to help the man and then used phones to call for help.

The rescue helicopters arrived with stretchers to pull the injured man out of the cave. The children loved becoming the helicopters and made propellers to place on their heads. The man was pulled to safety and the rescue was complete.

It has been lovely to see the enthusiasm from the children this week in the creation of their first Mantie story. Well done nursery ๐Ÿ˜€

We have had a lovely week welcoming our children back after half term. This week the children have continued their work based on the season Autumn. They met Grandma Fantastic who has a basket full of new vocabulary for the children to learn. This week Grandma Fantastic introduced an owl and the children created owls in class using scissors, glue sticks and pens. The children were enthusiastic and keen to develop new skills.

They also met concept cat this week. He introduces new concepts to the children and this week we learnt about “night.” The children talked about bonfire night and fireworks at night. In their independent play they created firework pictures and also played night time in the role play area by creating a bed to sleep in.

Outside the children have continued to develop their physical skills by pushing crates around and building with large bricks. They have played co-operatively and have developed stories based on bonfire night and fire works.

It has been a lovely week and we are very proud of how all the children have returned after half term. ๐Ÿ˜Š

We have had a lovely week in Nursery. The children have enjoyed a spooky week of Halloween activities and spending time with their families at fine motor family learning. The children have been developing their fine and gross motor strength and hand eye coordination while mixing slimy potions and exploring pumpkins. It has been a great start to the Nursery year and we look forward to seeing you after half term to continue our Autumn term.

The children have spent the last 2 weeks learning about the story “We are going on a bear hunt.” At story times the children have been learning about stories having a beginning and an end. We have had a sensory story trail in class which the children have used to put actions to different parts of the story. It has been lovely listening to their storytelling skills. The bear hunt work has also continued as the children have been learning how to use scissors to create the grass, had a snowstorm in class and discovered a dark gloomy cave. The  children were introduced to dark and light by creating a dark cave  in class they could explore with torches. After tiptoeing into the cave they discovered a bear! The children created paintings and drawings of the bear to add to the next step of the story.

Outside the children have been introduced to, “The Green.” A wooded area where they can play and explore. The children enjoyed the resources used to develop their physical skills as well as talking about changes to the seasons. We have been talking a lot about Autumn and the changes in the colours of the leaves as well as the animals found in woodlands.

Finally Mrs Bailey took nursery to the hall last week to introduce the rules we have in PE. The children were excited to learn about their new learning space and enjoyed exploring the hall with some of the equipment.

Nursery have had a busy two weeks learning about emotions and how we feel when we are emotional. The children have read the story “The Colour Monster” and have learnt that yellow is for happy, blue is for sad and green is for calm. We have explored these emotions through a variety of activities in class during play and at carpet time. The children have enjoyed being introduced to felt tip pens, glue and collage materials. The colours they have used have all been linked to our emotion work.
Outside we have introduced water and paintbrushes as well as a water tray. The children are responding well to routines, building relationships with others and are gaining more confidence in their play. Great work nursery ๐Ÿ˜Š

The Nursery children are continuing to enjoy the learning environment and playing and exploring with a variety of resources. This week we have talked about the rules in nursery that keep us safe and how important kind hands are when playing with our friends and equipment. The children have been introduced to the visual timetable board so they have images to help them understand the work and routine of the day in nursery. They have also met a puppet called Cat during carpet time who looks for children who can show good sitting and listening. The children have loved meeting Cat! He has chosen stories each day for the children to listen to.  We are very proud of the way the children are beginning to understand and follow the rules to keep them safe. It has been a lovely week. โค๏ธ
