French at Woodrow
Children move on to a range of different middle schools at the end of Year 4. French is our chosen language as this is the most common one studied in Year 5 and 6 and therefore progression should be possible.
Our intent is to introduce children to the learning of a language through speaking, listening, reading and writing tasks so that they can respond to simple questions as detailed in the National Curriculum.
We take a topic based approach and consolidate this with songs, rhymes and stories in French.
The children will move into Year 5 having enjoyed exploring a new language and confident that they have knowledge and experience to build on through the rest of the Key Stage.
