In Smarties there are two grown-ups Miss Davies and Mrs Matthew
Smarties will be a mix of year 1 and 2 children and will stay together all day.
We look forward to meeting you in September.
If covid continues
Each child will be given their own pencil case with the stationery they need for the day. All this will be kept in their own tray. Any other equipment which needs to be shared will be cleaned each day.
Children will have to wash their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds:
when they come in to school
before and after playtime
before and after lunchtime
after any coughs or sneezes
after any “messy” activity
before they leave school
A typical Nurture group day.
Children will be greeted by one of the adults in the morning, they will wash their hands ready for registration. Talking about our feelings and emotions is very important in Samrties and each day the children will be asked how they are feeling using their own feelings chart.
In the morning we enjoy fine motor skills, phonics and handwriting. After, we have a snack time where we all have toast. The children will have the choice of butter, jam and peanut butter.
When the children have helped to clear away it is time for playtime. After playtime we enjoy a maths session.
Lunchtime
All year 1 and 2 children are eligible for universal free school meals. This means that they can all have a hot lunch if you would like them to. If not, then the children should bring their own packed lunch.
Afternoons
After lunch children engaged in a range of curriculum areas. This term our mantle is based on an enchanted forest. click the mantle icon below for more information.
The children will be getting their own reading books, but they won't be bringing these home straight away. Please be patient. We need to make sure that they have the correct reading books.
The children may have some word cards to practise at home. These will be related to their phonics. We do phonics every day.
Children in Smarties will be mostly following the year 1 curriculum with some changes to support year 2 pupils. This can be accessed clicking the class page button below.
