  We will re-open as normal on Tuesday 20th September.

• Delayed hot menu - message from the caterers

  School lunches - MESSAGE FROM THE CATERERS

   

  Please note that the full menu is delayed. This is NOT a school issue - we have no control over this and have expressed our concern and disappointment.

   

  You will still need to order from this restricted menu via Parent Pay. You should choose either sandwich and filling, cold pasta pot or jacket potato. IMPORTANT - We have been told that the jacket potato and beans will arrive at school hot, but there will be no hot plate to keep them at this temperature.

   

  This is not the start any of us want, but hopefully it is just short term and then children can enjoy a hot meal from September 13th.

  Uniform can still be ordered via Parent Pay. These orders will be made up on the training days - 5th and 6th September.

• School lunches from September 2022

  IMPORTANT SCHOOL LUNCHES UPDATE

  A reminder that we have new caterers in school from Wednesday 7th September 2022. You will need to order your child's choice of meal and pay via ParentPay.

  IMPORTANT- if you have a child in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 and they have a free lunch YOU STILL NEED TO ORDER IT ONLINE

  The cost of paid meals will be £2.30 per day. ALL MEALS MUST BE ORDERED by 9.15am at the very latest. (If not ordered, your child will have a lunch BUT THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CHOOSE)

  The menus will be available from Monday 5th September, but for now please ensure that you can log into your ParentPay account. Log ins for reception and any new starters will be available on Tuesday 6th September 2022.

• Tuesday 19th Extreme Heat

  We have done a risk assessment and the classroom temperature is currently around 30 degrees. 

   

  We will be open tomorrow, but again parents may decide to keep children at home or collect them early. 

   

  This will be recorded as an exceptional circumstance.

• Year 4 assembly - revised plan

  Year 4 Assembly on Monday

  Unfortunately, we have to move the assembly to 9.30am.

  When we sent out tickets on Friday we thought that shortening the event would be enough to keep everyone safe, but with forecast temperatures rising further today we have no choice but to do more.

  It would be unwise to have over 150 people in the school hall during the hottest part of the day and we have to remember that the children would have already had 4 hours in the heat. We cannot risk heat exhhaustion or heat stroke.

   

  On Monday at 9.30am children will be given a special leavers tshirt to wear for the rest of the week if they wish, they will sing 2 songs and receive a fun certificate. We will have selfie frames available for parents to take photos of their children.

   

  We know that some of you will not be able to attend at this revised time. We are truly sorry for this. We cannot control the weather and have to put everyone's safety first.

   

  Although this doesn't make up any disappointment, we will record the assembly and broadcast it on Facebook.

   

  We are then also offering parents and carers the additional opportunity to join their Year 4 children on Thursday at 2.15pm. They will make a small snack, play some games and receive their leaving gifts. The selfie frames will be available again. We will broadcast the gift giving on Facebook.

   

  We have tried our best here to do the best we can in an extreme situation. We can only apologise for the timing and any upset.

• Year 4 Celebration Assembly

  Heatwave - Monday Year 4 Celebration

   

  We are becoming increasingly concerned about the escalating temperatures forecast for Monday. 😫😫😫😫😫

   

  We don't want to cancel the assembly, so we are asking Y4 parents if you could make 9.30am on Monday instead.

   

  Please let us know if you would support this change of time (we realise people will have arranged work to attend in the afternoon, but it seems that it may be just too hot).

   

  The only other alternative is Thursday, but as this is the last day we'd rather not do it then. Please let us know what you think.

   

  Please share with other Y4 parents - especially if you know they are not on Facebook.

• Heatwave 2022

  In school we will:

  *open windows early to let the hot air out and cooler air in

  *almost close windows if the outdoor air is warmer than the indoor

  *close blinds, but not block ventilation

  *turn lights off

  *turn electrical equipment off

  *cancel outdoor PE

  *have short, quiet playtimes in the shade

  *make sure children have access to cold water throughout the day 

   

  Children should wear light coloured, loose clothing such as PE kit. They can bring extra drinks in with ice if you wish. They should wear sun cream and bring a sun hat.
