Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment. Remember - our newsletters are uploaded to the website every week
Friday
Along with the Home Learning packs for absent children we will place any PE kits/ coats still in cloakrooms in the foyer for you to help yourself to.
Please do not ask for anything from the children's trays etc as we will have to refuse these requests.
The only thing we will hand over at the school office is a child's mediaction such as an asthma inhaler should you want it.
Thanks
Following the government's announcement about school closures we are planning to offer some targetted childcare next week as we plan for the longer term.
Thank you for your patience regarding this.
The precise details from the government regarding who is a key worker have not been shared with schools - frustratingly we take our guidance from the daily news the same as you.
However, we have a fantastic team and we want to do what we can at this challenging time.
It is not a statutory requirement that Woodrow remains partially open. We want to be clear that schools are responsible for how they are offering places to children of key workers and it may be we have to prioritise in order to keep everyone as safe as possible.
Offers to families will be according to need. There cannot be an expectation that families have a right to childcare.
Please respect and understand at the moment we are managing the best we can.
If you consider yourself to be a key worker, please make sure we have the details requested in an earlier post (look back through the timeline please) and we will contact you if we are able to help at this difficult time for everyone.
Stay safe everyone xx
Home Learning
Today we sent home a pack to help support learning at home over the next weeks of isolation. Depending on the age of the child, this included an exercise book, a pencil and 2 library books.
If your child is currently absent from school, their pack will be available for collection between 10am and 2pm tomorrow.
Look for the Year group table in the foyer at the main entrance.
Please help yourself - you do NOT need to speak to the office staff.
If your child's pack can not be collected tomorrow, the foyer will also be open on Monday 10am - 2pm.
Please note that currently we do not have plans to restock these packs and it is not possible to change the library books.
For home learning ideas, on this website, click on the Parents tab, then Home Learning, then the Year group of your child.
In the coming weeks, we also hope to add to the ideas and post some videos and tasks from class teachers, so keep checking.
We are in discussions with Shire Catering (our school meals provider) regarding free school meals and will update you as soon as we can confirm the next steps.
We are doing all we can to try to provide for our most vulnerable families from next week.
We know the current uncertainty only adds to the worry at the moment and we share people's concerns and frustrations.
Please keep checking here as this will be our main form of contact over the coming weeks.
We do not have any further information from the government or the Local Authority about food vouchers at the moment.
When we can, we will add information to the school website too so please share this with everyone not on social media.
Thank you xx
As you are aware, school will be closed to children from 3pm on Friday until further notice. Children of key workers and vulnerable children will be provided with childcare on the school premises.
We are still awaiting details on what a key worker is, so please be patient until we have clarification.
In the meantime, if you work for the NHS, the police or you are a supermarket delivery driver please contact us with the following details. We may then be able to start to plan for next week.
Child's name and age
Key worker's name
Occupation
Partner's occupation
Reason why child care is needed
Days and times when child care is needed
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT A GUARANTEE OF CHILD CARE AT WOODROW
