  • Monday 29th March

    Sun 28 Mar 2021
Public Health have advised that the children in Mrs Marshall's class in Year 2 and two members of staff self isolate as one of the class has Covid symptoms.

We are waiting for a PCR test result.

We have contacted the parents of the children in this class and will keep everyone up to date with any further information when we receive it.

    Thank you.

  • Monday 22nd March

    Sun 21 Mar 2021
We're really pleased to say that Nursery and Reception are open as usual on Monday.

    Covid test results were negative.

Thank you again for your support and patience.

  • Precautionary Bubble Closure

    Fri 19 Mar 2021

We have a higher number of Nursery children than usual with "snuffles" today.

Because of this, on the advice of Public Health, we have closed the Foundation Stage bubble.

This is a precaution only at this stage. We do NOT currently have any confirmed cases of Covid in school.

Hopefully, we can be open as usual on Monday. We will be posting an update here and on our Facebook page as soon as we have any further information on Sunday.

In the meantime, if your child displays any Covid symptoms please book a test and isolate.

We can be contacted over the weekend

  • Children returning

    Fri 26 Feb 2021
When all children return to school on 8th March they will be in their class bubble as they were in the Autumn term. As before, they will not mix with other bubbles and there will be regular hand sanitizing and washing as well as the adults cleaning touch points throughout the day. This is to help keep everyone as safe as possible for now. (No face coverings or covid tests in first schools)

We are really looking forward to helping them to thrive - doing lots of talking, thinking, playing, wondering, making, creating and laughing! They may get tired easily, so to rebuild their stamina for learning they will be doing lots of physical activity as well - as this actually helps to banish mental tiredness. We will design the learning chunks of time to fit in with the needs of the children.

Mantle of the Expert will be key to children learning well and enjoying learning. Through Mantle, we can see what each child can do and what they need to learn next.

We look forward to them being back with their friends and coming back together as little class communities.

We know that most children are keen and excited to get back to school. We also know that some may find it difficult and that you too may have mixed feelings about their return. We are available on the phone everyday next week to talk about any questions you have or if you want to talk to someone about how you're feeling. #teamwoodrow

  • Drop off and Pick up times

    Wed 24 Feb 2021
DROP OFF AND PICK UP TIMES FROM THE 8TH MARCH

Reception to Year 4 - New arrangements

To try to minimise contact (and in response to parental requests) we will be trying a staggered start and end to the day whilst the "stay at home" Covid restrictions are still in place.

Your child has a set drop off and pick up time which we are respectfully asking that you stick to.

PLEASE ARRIVE AT SCHOOL AT YOUR SET TIME AND NOT BEFORE

If your child's last name starts with A B C D E Drop off at 8.45am and pick up at 2.45pm

    If your child's last name starts with F G H I J K L M N O Drop off at 8.50am and pick up at 2.50pm

    If your child's last name starts with P Q R S T U V W X Y Z Drop off at 8.55am and pick up at 2.55pm

If your children have different last names, choose one time to use for all of them.

If your child is in Nursery, please see the separate information.

We really need your brilliant support with this please. It will only work if you stick to your time and don't arrive early. Your child will not be able to enter or leave their classroom until their set time.

The one way system is still in place so please come in to the school grounds via the main entrance or Pedmore Close and leave as before by following the one way system.

Classroom doors close at 9am. If your child is late after 9am, you will need to have them signed in at the office as before so that we can walkie talkie to the classroom for the door to be opened.

Let's see how it goes. Remember your face coverings please. Mr Kieran is happy to answer any questions on the telephone.

We will NOT respond to any comments on this post.

Thanks as always for your support and we look forward to seeing everyone soon.

  • All children are back on 8th March

    Tue 23 Feb 2021

It's great news that the children will all be returning on 8th March. We are working hard to make sure school is as safe as possible.

So far we can tell you:

*Children will be in the bubbles they were in before Christmas with their usual class teachers and teaching assistants - they will not mix with anyone outside their bubble *We expect all adults - parents, staff and visitors to wear face coverings around school - except for when they are teaching

*There will be a staggered start and end to the day - we will give you your set drop off and pick up times tomorrow (we know this may not be what you want to hear, but we feel we need to do it - at least in the short term - whilst the stay at home restrictions are still in place)

*Lunches will continue as they were before Christmas

*There will be no Breakfast Club for the rest of this term - then there will be a review for after Easter

We will post an update each day - starting tomorrow with exact details on the start and end of the day. We really appreciate your patience.

Thanks for your tremendous support. As we said yesterday we will NOT RESPOND to any questions or comments here. However, we are available to talk on the phone every day about any queries you have - big or small.

  • Reopening after bad weather and dangerous conditions.

    Mon 25 Jan 2021
The school site is open tomorrow for those children who already have a place in class. If the pathways are icy in the morning you will see us at the front door ready to take your Y1, Y2, Y3 and Y4 children in through the foyer. They will go directly through an internal courtyard and into their classroom. YR children will go through the front door and the school hall. or if it is busy we will direct you along the nursery pathway. Please bear with us if we ask you to wait for a moment in the carpark until we can get children into school safely with social distancing in place. Thanks
